Ubaldo Cortez, 85, of Los Fresnos, passed away on December 27, 2017, in Brownsville, Texas.

He was born Brownsville, Texas to Carlos and Maria Cortez on September 18, 1932.

Ubaldo is preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Maria Cortez; his siblings, Reynaldo Cortez, Medardo Cortez, Martin Cortez, Celia Cortez, Manuel Cortez, and Zolia Cortez. 

He is survived by his loving wife Irma Cortez; his children Monica Cortez, Martha Cortez, Julio (Angelina) Torres, Matilda (George) Ovalle, Ramon Cortez, Ubaldo (Tracy) Cortez Jr.; Yvonne Castillo, Bianca Castillo, Josue Castillo. Extended family Ivan (Sulema) Castillo.​

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2017, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. All services will conclude after visitation.
