Abel Garcia

Abel Garcia, 92, of Brownsville, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Ebony Lake Healthcare Center in Brownsville.

Abel Garcia was born in San Benito, TX, to Paulita Lopez and Policarpio Garcia on July 1, 1931. He was preceded in death by his parents: Policarpio and Paulita Garcia Lopez; son, Dagoberto Garcia; brothers: Noe Garcia and Roberto Garcia, and his sister, Velia Cantu.

Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife, Magdalena Garcia; children: Ismael Garcia (Janie), Odulia "Yaya" Anderson, Juana Garcia, Rosa Maria Vasquez (Adolfo), and Maricela Benavides (Richard); daughter-in-law, Elisa Garcia; siblings, Joel Garcia, Eva Rosenbaum, Irma Rivera, Jose Maria Garcia, Maria Emma Aguilar, and Policarpio Garcia; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandsons; numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 27th, 2023, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 28th, 2023, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Committal will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pall bearers: Ismael Garcia, Richard Benavides Sr., Marcelo Garcia, Abel Garcia, Adolfo Vasquez Jr., Clint Kelley Anderson, Richard Benavides Jr., and Jacob R. Benavides.
