Amelia Medrano Garza, 95, of Brownsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on
November 16, 2025, at The Rio at Mission Trails Nursing home in San Antonio,
Texas.
She was born on October 27, 1930, to parents Santos and Eulogia Garza in
Rio Hondo, Texas. She worked as a cook in several restaurants in Brownsville up
until she opened up her first of four restaurants in Brownsville and Houston, Texas.
At 95 she still wanted to open up a food trailer and would always be coming up
with menus to offer to her future patrons. Amelia was a devoted wife, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family.
Friends and family will remember her for her kindness and sense of humor. She
loved animals and would feed cats, dogs, pig, birds, possums and any of God's
creatures who would show up in her yard.
She is survived by her children: Juan Miguel Medrano Jr., Jorge Medrano, Roberto
Medrano and Noe Medrano; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her husband Juan Miguel Medrano, Sr.; her parents and four
siblings.
Visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m. Friday November 21, 2025 at
Garza Memorial Funeral Home1025 E. Jackson Brownsville, Tx 78520
Graveside/Burial will be held Tuesday 9:30 a.m. Nov. 25, 2025
at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery
