Arturo "Art" Lopez Sanchez Galvan, 75, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, surrounded by his loving and caring family at his residence in Brownsville.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Carlos Sanchez Garcia and Lilia Lopez; adoptive father, "Pa" Federico G. Delgado Esparza, Sr.
Arturo Lopez Galvan is survived by his loving wife, Nohemi Sanchez; 3 daughters, Samantha Y. Galvan, Kayla Sanchez Galvan, Genesis Sanchez Galvan; son Jahzeel Sanchez Galvan; 4 grandchildren, Alexzendria Galvan, Darius Reyna, Joshua Reyna, and Darren Reyna; his adoptive mother, Mrs. Juanita Galvan Delgado, and siblings Fred G. Delgado, Jr., Humberto (Beto) Delgado, Msgt. (Ret) USAF, Daniel G. Delgado, Sr., Ida Espinoza, and Dr. Julia Delgado, MD.
Arturo loved God and his country. After graduating from Brownsville High School, where he excelled in baseball and football, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and Presidential Unit Citation.
His family are members of the Primera Iglesia Bautista Trinity, where he became a born-again Christian to follow God. May Arturo rest in peace.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 8, 2021. Chapel service will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, August 9, 2021, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Committal will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the American Legion.
