Baldomero C. Torres, 90 of Brownsville, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at his residence in Brownsville . He was born in Port Isabel, TX, to Refugia Chapa Torres and Francisco Torres on December 19, 1935.
Baldomero loved music of all kinds and dancing. He acquired an interest in singing at a young age and loved to entertain others on occasion. Baldomero received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration at the University of Houston. He worked in various facets of accounting advancing to controller of a maquiladora in Mexico, and provided accounting and tax services for over 30 years.
Baldomero and his wife, Mavi were instrumental in initiating the beloved Catholic Family Movement, Movimiento Familiar Cristiano Catolico in the Rio Grande Valley. The movement serves as the basis of the formation and education for Christian Catholic families. Baldomero and Mavi were elected and served two terms as national presidents of the MFC, USA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mavi Torres; daughter, Belinda Rocha; parents, Francisco Torres, and Refugia Chapa Torres; and sister, Evangelina Villamor.
Baldomero is survived by three children, Elizabeth Torres, Jesse Torres, and Patricia Gorham (Spouse, Edwin Gorham), five grandchildren, Michael Jacob Torres (son, Joshua Michael Torres), Michelle Rocha, Adrian Rocha (daughter, Jevalya Smith), Abigail Marie Gorham and Emma Ladell Gorham; and his sister, Elia Lehn.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 pm Friday, March 13th, 2026, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, March 14th, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Committal will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Joshua Michael Torres, Marco Vasquez, Marc Mora, Juan Roberto Hernandez Jr., Carlos Perfecto Guajardo, and Eduardo Vasquez.
