Eliud Elizondo Obituary

Eliud Elizondo (80) of Brownsville, entered the arms of his Savior into eternal rest on July 28, 2024 at Valley Regional Medical Center. He was born to Canuto Elizondo and Enriqueta Cantu de Elizondo in Hacienda San Pedro, Municipio General Teran, Nuevo Leon, by whom he is preceded in death, as well by his siblings Edelmiro Elizondo, Enrique Elizondo, Eleazar Elizondo, and Edelia Elizondo de Perez. He is survived by his brother Heriberto Elizondo and his sister Esther Elizondo de Fantini.

Eliud's early school years were spent in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. At the age of 16, he traveled to the
United States and worked as a migrant worker in the sugar beet fields of Idaho, and later on as a busboy in some of the restaurants and hotels in Houston, Texas. At the age of 18, he attended Valley Baptist Academy from 1963-1965, where he took high school and bible classes during the school year, and would return to Houston in the summers to gather income to cover his tuition for the next schoolyear. At age 21, he was drafted into the US Army, and received training in Electrical Engineering at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He was honorably discharged, and shortly after met the love of his life, whom he called Amy, in Houston, Texas. He pursued a career in the Food and Beverage Industry. His diligence and work ethic took him far, and became Manager of some of Houston's fine Dining establishments. Despite his success in Houston, he felt the desire to move to the Rio Grande Valley for the sake of his family, and in the early 1980s set up residence in Brownsville, Texas. He later became Food and Beverage Director for the Radisson Hotel (later renamed The Isla Grand) on South Padre Island. In 1989, he established an Audio/Visual company, which he proudly ran with his sons Eduardo and Esteban.

Eliud's first love was his family, but his second was definitely the fairways, and could be seen most mornings at the Brownsville Country Club with a golf club in his hand. He remained in contact with his high school classmates, and was involved with many of the activities with other Valley Baptist Academy alumni. He was very interested in his ancestry, and spent hours online in research.
Eliud's loving spirit, love of life and laughter is carried on by his wife of 55 years Amabely, as well as his children Dora Yvette Griffith with her children James, Joy and Jenna, Yolanda Galvan (Michael Galvan) and their children Stephanie, Michael Jr, and Kimberly, Eliud Elizondo Jr, Eduardo Elizondo (Elizabeth Elizondo) and their children Ashtyn, Erika, Evelyn and Ethan, Edeanna Garza (Joetman Garza) and their children Maya, Amarisa, and Joel, and Esteban Elizondo ( Marcelina Gonzalez). He has 2 great-grandchildren - Mason and Austin. He was a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, and until his final days recounted many fond memories with his extended family.
