Enrique Rios Buitureira

Enrique Rios Buitureira, 96, of Brownsville, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at his residence. 

He was born in Brownsville, Texas, to Luisa and Arturo Buitureira on June 18, 1929. He worked for Coca-Cola for 30 years and later served as a custodian for the Brownsville Independent School District, from which he retired after 12 years. 

Enrique was a beacon of joy and warmth in the lives of those who knew him. His bright smile, love for dancing, and passion for fishing brought happiness to countless moments.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arturo and Luisa Buitureira, as well as several siblings. 

Enrique is survived by five sons: Henry Buitureira (Felicitas +); Ramon Buitureira (Elisa); Roberto Buitureira (Irene); Guadalupe Buitureira (Irene); and Gilberto Vasquez (Perla). He is also survived by two siblings, Guadalupe B. Tijerina (Antonio +) and Alfredo Buitureira (Consuelo), along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and other cherished family members who will continue to honor his memory. 

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 PM noon on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home, with a committal to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
