Estela S. Trujillo, age 91, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in San Antonio, Texas.
A lifelong resident of Brownsville, Texas, Estela dedicated over two decades to the Brownsville Independent School District. She served six years as a substitute teacher and eighteen years as a certified instructional aide, retiring in 1998. Her commitment to education and the students she worked with left a lasting impact on her community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Elvira Serrano; her first husband, Jesus Jose (Jesse) Flores; her second husband, Rodolfo Trujillo, Jr.; her sons, Luis Jorge Flores and Gilberto Rene Flores; her sister, Mercedes S. Aleman; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Danielle Flores.
Estela's memory will be forever cherished by her daughter, Norma L. (David) Davila; her son, Armando J. (Delia) Flores; her grandchildren, Laura T. Davila (Avram Munoz), Sarah J. Martin (Brian), Michael A. Flores, and Alex M. Flores; and her great-grandson, Nico A. Davila-Munoz - all of San Antonio.
Known for her vibrant spirit and deep love for her family, Estela was a woman of unwavering faith. Her favorite prayer, one she recited daily, was the Serenity Prayer:
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."
Estela embraced life fully. She found joy in traveling, dancing, sewing, arts and crafts, solving crossword puzzles, cooking, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 7th, 2025, starting at 5:00 PM, with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Garza Memorial Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, September 8th, 2025, at 9:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Committal will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
