Fernando Vasquez

Fernando Vasquez, 57, of Brownsville, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville.

My father, Fernando Vasquez was such an amazing father, husband, grandfather, and cousin. His entire life revolved around loving his family. He is the most selfless person I'll ever meet. He loved riding dirt bikes, he passed that down to his grandkids since they were old enough to ride. One of my favorite memories will always be getting home or going into the garage him blasting rock music while lifting weights.

My father's goal in life was to create a big united family. My father has five daughters and raised 4 other children who are my nephews and niece, but me and my sisters call them brothers and sister. My dad accomplished his goal. My father always sat at the head of the table at any celebration, he sat there looking, admiring, he sat there with so much pride, so happy for what he accomplished. My dad was a great man and because of him we stand here united.

My father, Fernando Vasquez was one of a kind. He was always there to help anyone in need. He was my role model growing up always encouraging me and my sisters to do good in life. My dad grew up in a bad neighborhood but besides these obstacles he always raised us to be good people and respect others. He is the reason my father was the most caring, amazing dad ever he was always there for us.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paulino Vasquez; brothers, Paul Vasquez, and Domingo Vasquez.

Fernando Vasquez is survived by his wife of 34 years of marriage, Hazel Garcia Vasquez; daughters: Audria Herrera (Raul Zavala), Annette Vasquez, Kelly Vasquez (Jesus Bejarano), Jacqueline Vazquez (Eric Lucio), and Sabrina Vasquez (Damian Rodriguez); his mother, Elvira Hernandez; brothers: Jesus and Antonio Vasquez; sisters: Yolanda, Leonarda, and Patricia Vasquez; 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm Wednesday, October 30th, 2024, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Chapel Service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 31st, 2024, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. All services will conclude after Chapel Service.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Jesse James Figueroa, Devin Angel Figueroa, Raul Zavala, Jesus Bejarano, Eric Lucio, Damian Rodriguez, Raul Zavala, Jr., Gilbert Garcia, Ernest Riley Garcia, Rodolfo Navarro, II, and Benito Hernandez.
