Josefa C. Cruz, 72, of Brownsville, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2019, at her residence in Brownsville.

Josefa C. Cruz, was born in Brownsville, to Lidia Jimenez and Geronimo Cavazos on March 19, 1947.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Geronimo and Lidia Cavazos; sister, Rosalinda Alvarado; brothers, Geronimo and Daniel Cavazos.

Mrs. Cruz is survived by her husband, Oscar Cruz; children, Guadalupe Cavazos, Veronica Cruz, Noemi (Jesus Roberto) Cruz Garza, and Isabel Cruz; siblings, Juan Jose Cavazos, Walter Cain, Fernando Hernandez, Sr., Mauro Hernandez, and Filiberto Hernandez; 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm on Sunday, July 7th, 2019, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 8th, 2019, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Committal will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Pallbearers will be Diego Garza, Jesus Rodrigo Garza, Raul Cavazos, Juan Roberto Cavazos, Ruben Hernandez, and Christopher Cavazos.
