Josefina L. (Limon) Leyva

Josefina L. Leyva, 91, of Brownsville, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Rio at Fox Hollow Post Acute in Brownsville.

Josefina L. Leyva was born in San Antonio, Jalisco, Mexico, to Maria Limon and Merced Limon on May 24, 1934. She was preceded in death by her parents: Merced and Maria Limon; husband, Rafael Leyva; son, Jose Luz Leyva; daughter, Maria Cruz Leyva; grandson, Marco Antonio Alvarado, Jr.; and numerous siblings.

Mrs. Leyva is survived by her children: Rafael Leyva, Jr. (Mary), Merced Leyva, Maria Cruz Leyva Alvarado (Marco), Pablo Leyva (Eulogia), Noelia Leyva Alvarado (Matias), and Isaias Leyva; sister, Amelia Limon Godoy; 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.


Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm with an evening service at 7:00 pm Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, at Templo Emmanuel. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, at Templo Emmanuel. Committal will follow at San Pedro Cemetery.
