Juan Sierra Rodriguez

Juan Sierra Rodriguez, 83, of Brownsville, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville.

He was born in Matamoros, Mexico, to Juan Rodriguez and Rosa Sierra on February 28, 1938. Juan Sierra Rodriguez married Ofelia Rodriguez, and shortly after, they decided to move to Brownsville. He worked several jobs, from gasoline stations to working at the Port of Brownsville. In the latter part of his life, he worked for Brownsville Independent School District for 33 years before retiring in 2019.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Rosa Sierra Rodriguez; his wife, Ofelia Rodriguez; siblings, Jose Angel Rodriguez and Martin Farias.

Juan Sierra Rodriguez is survived by his children, Minerva Hinojosa, Dinorah Rodriguez, Juan Rodriguez, and Jaime Rodriguez; siblings, Rita Larrasquitu, Lydia Larrasquitu, Francisca Faisal, Francisco Farias, Reynaldo Farias, Laura Garcia, Sylvia Vela, and Irma Lara; his grandchildren, Amado Hinojosa III, Erica Hinojosa, Graciela Guadalupe Rodriguez, Joshua Rodriguez, and Mark Anthony Rodriguez; his great-grandchildren, Luis Alejandro Hinojosa, Eduardo Hinojosa, and Yessenia Araceli Lopez.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a Rosary/Memorial Service at 7:00 pm on Friday, October 29, 2021, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. All services will conclude after visitation.
