Lorenzo Guajardo, Jr.

Lorenzo Guajardo Jr., 70, of San Benito, passed away at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

Lorenzo was born in Brownsville, Texas, to Eglantgina Diaz and Lorenzo Guajardo Sr. on December 8, 1954. He graduated from Brownsville High School and worked in retail for several decades, spending 21 years at Kmart, 8 years at Big Lots, and finally retiring after 17 years at Rack Room Shoes.

A fan of the Chicago Bears, Lorenzo loved seafood and enjoyed spending time outdoors with his mother. He especially cherished his grandchildren, frequently teaching them how to clean the yard.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lorenzo Guajardo Sr., and three siblings: Maria Luisa Guajardo, Reynaldo Guajardo, and Juan Gabriel Diaz.

Lorenzo is survived by two children: Conrado Guajardo (Sandra Jauregui) of Olmito, TX, and Corina Guajardo Gaona (Reynaldo Gaona); eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his mother, Eglantgina D. Guajardo of San Benito, TX; and seven siblings: Maria Christina Villarreal, Ruben Guajardo, Javier Guajardo, Veronica Hernandez, Rosa Ramos, Ricardo Guajardo, and Rigoberto Guajardo, along with numerous other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Chapel Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Committal will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
