Luz A. Gurrola

Luz A. Gurrola, 83, of Brownsville, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026,peacfully surrounded by her loving family. .

She was preceded in death by parents; Elena Sedano Nuñez and Miguel Alcantar Figueroa; husband, Luis Gurrola; and her beloved pet chihuahua, "Cheerios".

Luz is survived by her children: Adriana Gurrola, Jose Luis Gurrola (Sonia), Marina Howard (Charlie), and Gisela Gurrola; 6 grandchildren: Jose Luis Gurrola, Jr., Joseph Lee Gurrola, Esteban Adrian Orta, Charles Justin Howard, Megan Rose Howard and Ayissa Gonzalez; great-grandchildren; Elenna, Eiza and Ezrah.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm Friday, July 24, 2026, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Committal will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be: Jose Luis Gurrola, Sr., Jose Luis Gurrola, Jr., Joseph Gurrola, Esteban Orta, Justin Howard and Robert Gonzalez.
Honorary pallbearers, Charlie Howard, Chris Lopez.
