Maria Celia Torres

Maria Celia Torres, 62, of Brownsville, sadly passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication.

Born in Brownsville, TX, on August 20, 1962, to Rogelia and Ramiro Perez, Maria devoted 28 years of her life to serving as an Administrative Executive Assistant at St. Joseph Academy. Celia's love of music was a lifelong passion, and she could often be found playing Tejano and 80's music in the kitchen while baking for her family.  She enjoyed gardening, playing Chalupa and participating in school community events—her spirit was always about bringing people together.

Celia is now reunited with her beloved parents, Ramiro and Rogelia Perez, and her sister, Juanita Valdez, who preceded her in death. She is deeply missed by her husband, Reynaldo Torres, her children, Melissa Christina Torres and Reynaldo Torres Jr., and her three cherished grandsons, Alfonso Castillo Jr., Alejandro Armani Rocha, and Nicholas Anthony Rodriguez. Her memory will also live on through her six siblings, Raquel Martinez, Juventino Castillo, David Perez, Joel Perez, Sara Perez, and Berta Castillo, along with numerous other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

Visitation to honor Maria Celia life will take place from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a rosary at 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. All services will conclude after visitation.
