Maria Dolores Lozano de Garza, 88, our beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Las Alturas Nursing and Transitional Care in Brownsville, Texas. She was born on April 03, 1936 in Saltillo Coahuila, Mexico to parents: Oscar Emilio Lozano and Reyna Margarita Jimenez. She attended elementary school in Saltillo Coahuila, Mexico before moving to H. Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, graduated from Villa Maria High School, and attended Texas Southmost College, both in Brownsville, Texas.
Our mother worked all of her life in different capacities. She worked for Gulf Pacific Cotton Agency, W.D. Felder & Company, Dr. Jack Dempsey, Dr. Santiago Gonzalez, Leece Neville de Mexico, S.A. de C.V., Brownsville Police Department as a Dispatcher, Helen Winans Insurance, Texas & Frontier Machinery Company as an Administrator and Executive Secretary during the 1970's and 1980's and retiring in the 1990's. After her retirement, she became an entrepreneur alongside with her daughters Maria Cecilia and Elsa Margarita and her son-in-law Reynaldo, as they opened a nutritional store, Biological Nutrition Center.
On December 11, 1954, she married the love of her life, Armando Garza Gonzalez. The good Lord blessed their marriage with four beautiful daughters who survive her: Lic. Maria Cecilia Garza-Cruz (Dr. Reynaldo), Mtra. Elsa Margarita Garza-Ibarra ( Ing. Federico), Dra. Sandra Susana Garza Lozano, and Lic. Anna Cristina Garza Lozano, her grandson Ing. Jorge Federico Ibarra Garza. She is also survived by her brother, Arq. Jesus Sergio (Celia Marina) Lozano Jimenez, sister-in-law, Rosa Dulce Maria Lozano, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Emilio Lozano and Reyna Margarita Jimenez; her husband, Armando Garza Gonzalez, and her brother, Ing. Oscar Rolando Lozano Jimenez.
Our mother's hobbies included attending mass on Sundays at St. Luke's Catholic Church, playing cards, loteria, word finder, crossword puzzles, walking, enjoying a cup of coffee with family and friends, taking lots of pictures, dancing, writing and sending cards and letters to family and friends, and loved visiting the beauty salon on Fridays.
Visitation will be held from 3:00pm - 9:00pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Luke and a Chapel Service immediately after the Rosary Saturday, September 21st, 2024, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. All services will conclude Saturday night. As per our Mother's wishes, cremation will follow.
