Maria De Jesus Deanda, 87, of Brownsville, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025, at her residence in Brownsville.

Maria De Jesus Deanda was born in Brownsville, TX, to Virginia Añorga and Jose Baldomero Benavides on April 10, 1938. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Jose Benavides; brother, Jose Baldomero Benavides; husband, Candelario Deanda, Sr., daughter, Andrea D. Solis; 2 great-grandchildren, Olivia Lopez, and Candelario Hernandez Luna, and several brothers, and sisters.

She is survived by her children: Candelario (Yolanda) Deanda, Jr., Maria Cristina (Hector) Rivera, Esiquia "Chica" Deanda, and Virginia Hernandez (Hector); 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, and her beloved pet "Chiquita".

Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Committal will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Pallbearers will be: Candelario Deanda III, Raul Rodriguez, Danny Garcia, Mauro Gonzalez, Jose Baldomero Lopez, and Fidel Lopez.
Honorary Pallbearer will be, Juan Antonio Hernandez, Jr.
