With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Maria Gloria Lule, age 80, of Brownsville, who departed this life on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville.
Maria was born on September 6, 1945, in Brownsville, TX, to Olivia and Hilario Hernandez. She devoted 25 years of her life as a nurse assistant at Brownsville Medical Center, where she showed her compassion and dedication to helping others every day. Maria had a zest for life, finding joy in working out, painting, and drawing. A true testament to her spirit, she was a cancer survivor and faced life's challenges with remarkable strength, even after experiencing a heart attack.
Her loving nature extended beyond her family, as she also sponsored the care of children and cherished her collection of angels. Maria's heart was as big as her collection, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Maria is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Hilario and Olivia Hernandez, and her dear sisters, Yolanda Hernandez and Delia Gonzalez. She leaves behind her loving son, Peter N. Lule (Alheli Lule) of Brownsville, and two cherished grandchildren, Israel and Manuel Hernandez. Also surviving her are her brother, Hilario Hernandez Jr., her close friend Brenda Martinez, and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
A visitation will be held in her honor on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Garza Memorial Funeral Home, with a rosary starting at 6:00 PM. Chapel services will take place on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025, at 2:00 PM, also at Garza Memorial Funeral Home, followed by committal at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Maria Gloria Lule's warmth, kindness, and love touched the lives of many. She will be remembered fondly and missed deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
