Maria Elisa Sifuentes, 78, of Brownsville, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville.

Maria Elisa Sifuentes was born in H. Matamoros, Tamps., to Melquiades Mendez and Jose Camerino Rodriguez on February 6, 1946.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Camerino and Melquiades Rodriguez; husband, Jose Pedro Sifuentes; sister, Olga Edith Rodriguez; and brother, Eliseo Rodriguez.

Maria Elisa Sifuentes is survived by her daughter, Mercedes K. Guerrero, and her son, Juan A. Sifuentes Jr.; siblings, Sergio G. Rodriguez (Dora), Nohemi Salazar (Oscar), Sara Rodriguez, Martha Esther Rodriguez, and Orfa Ruth Rodriguez (Eusebio Mejia); 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Committal will follow at Guillen Community Cemetery.
