Mario Alberto Abrego-Silva, de 55 años y residente de Brownsville, falleció el domingo 17 de agosto de 2025 en Sunshine Haven Inc. en Olmito.

Mario era un espíritu vibrante que disfrutaba de diversas actividades, como ver boxeo y animar a los Houston Astros y Houston Texans. También disfrutaba viendo al equipo de fútbol Chivas de Guadalajara y se sumergía en actividades creativas como el dibujo y el baile. Apasionado por la cocina, se enorgullecía de su trabajo como pintor profesional, transformando con maestría edificios y hogares con su arte. Además, dedicó parte de su vida a la pesca de camarones. Mario será recordado como un padre, abuelo, hijo y hermano devoto y amoroso.

Le precedió en la muerte su hermana, Francisca Griselda Abrego-Silva.

A Mario le sobreviven sus hijos: Mario Alberto Abrego Jr. (Sandra Muñiz), Francisco Octavio Abrego (Desirae Marie), Marlene Alaiza Torres (Bryan) y Madelyn Alisa Abrego. También le sobreviven sus nietos: Christopher Abrego, Marely Abrego, Zayden Torres, Jamar Moreno y Josiah Angel Moreno.

Le sobreviven su padre, Francisco Abrego-García, y su madre, Gloria Silva-Abrego. También le sobreviven sus hermanos, Marco Antonio Abrego-Silva y Miguel Ángel Abrego-Silva, así como sus sobrinos y sobrinas.

El velatorio se llevará a cabo el jueves 21 de agosto de 2025, de 14:00 a 20:00, con un servicio religioso a las 19:00 en la Funeraria Garza Memorial.

El velatorio continuará a las 9:00 a. m., seguido de un servicio religioso el viernes 22 de agosto de 2025 a las 12:00 p. m. en la Funeraria Garza Memorial. El sepelio se realizará a continuación en Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens..

Mario Alberto Abrego-Silva, 55, of Brownsville, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Sunshine Haven Inc. in Olmito.

Mario was a vibrant spirit who found joy in many activities, including watching boxing and cheering for the Houston Astros and Houston Texans. He also enjoyed watching the soccer team Chivas de Guadalajara and immersing himself in creative pursuits such as drawing and dancing. With a passion for cooking, he took pride in his work as a professional painter, skillfully transforming buildings and homes with his artistry. Additionally, he dedicated a part of his life to shrimping. Mario will be remembered as a devoted and loving father, grandfather, son, and brother.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Francisca Griselda Abrego-Silva.

Mario is survived by his children: Mario Alberto Abrego Jr. (Sandra Muñiz), Francisco Octavio Abrego (Desirae Marie), Marlene Alaiza Torres (Bryan), and Madelyn Alisa Abrego. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Christopher Abrego, Marely Abrego, Zayden Torres, Jamar Moreno, and Josiah Angel Moreno.

He is survived by his father, Francisco Abrego-Garcia, and his mother, Gloria Silva-Abrego. He is also survived by his brothers, Marco Antonio Abrego-Silva and Miguel Angel Abrego-Silva, along with nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Garza Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will continue at 9 AM, followed by a chapel service on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM (noon) at Garza Memorial Funeral Home. Committal will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
