Mario Sanchez

Mario was born on January 19, 1941, to Esteban Sanchez and Paz Gomez, in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico. He went to our Lord in heaven on March 25, 2023.
Mario was a long-living resident of Brownsville. He had 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Mario worked in construction for many years but his best years were the 14 years that he worked at South Padre Island. He would go and come without any complaints.
Mario enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a wonderful husband and provider. His five children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren meant the world to him. He was caring, loving, compassionate, and had a fun personality. All his grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored him. He was a blessing to all who knew him.
After his retirement, Mario enjoyed having breakfast at Big Daddy's and watching Mexican classic movies. Some of his favorite ones were "La India Maria" and "Capulina". He also loved taking long long naps.
Mario is survived by his wife Josefina, and his children, Ceci (Larry) Hernandez, Mario Sanchez, Mague (Moy) Torres, Yoli (Jose) Saldana, and Esmi (Daniel) Villalobos. He is also survived by his siblings Chelo, Cruz, Cande, Pedro, and Javier. Mario leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Mario was preceded in death by his parents, Esteban and Paz, his sister, Maria de Jesus, and his son-in-law Jose Antonio Saldana.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home in Brownsville, from 4 pm to 9 pm with a Prayer Service to be held at 7 p.m. Services will conclude at the end of the visitation.
