Pedro Sanchez Obituary

Pedro Sanchez (Pete), a loving husband, father, brother, friend passed away peacefully on
Thursday, May 21st, 2026, surrounded by the love and support of his loving children and his
family. He was 75 years young.

Pete was born on June 29th, 1950, in Harlingen, Texas, to Teofilo and Juanita Sanchez. He
lived his entire life in Harlingen, Texas, attending Harlingen High School and some college
in Brownsville TX. He later married the love of his life, Estela, on September 1st, 1978.
They made their life in Harlingen, Texas, and remained married for forty-seven years.

At the bright age of 18, his father helped him get started at Rainbow Baking Company
where he stayed employed until his retirement. His job was more than just work, it was his
pride. During storms, you would see him working hard to provide the bread needed for
major businesses like HEB and others. He would always go the extra mile for others and
took no short cuts. He understood that being the sole breadwinner had weight to it, and
everything he did was to provide for his family. He would work through rain, while sick,
during freezing temperatures, and sweltering heat. He would come home fatigued, but he
was always willing to crack a joke with others to make everyone laugh.

After retiring, you would find him watching his daily dose of Western shows: Bonanza,
Rifleman, Gunsmoke, Wagon train, The Virginian, the list could go on. He was always the
early bird and would wait patiently for his wife to awaken from her slumber. He would have a
huge smile as he laid his eyes on her, giving her the biggest hug as if he had not seen her
in ages. They would always sit together to watch their shows. These are the memories that
hold strong. Sunday morning, his requests would be barbacoa from Garza's Tortilleria, corn
tortillas from Capistran's, refried beans & pico de gallo from Taco Palenque, and pan dulce
from Lara's Bakery, along with his Sunday newspaper. Other likes of his were menudo, bbq
chicken with potato salad, capirotada, Frosted Flakes, Mexican candy, etc. You can say his
taste was refined. He had a passion for the Dallas Cowboys, as his wife did, and would get
highly upset if you changed the channel. But that hardly happened, as they were both glued
to the TV watching their favorite team play.

He will be remembered for his beautiful smile and handsome hazel eyes which could light
up any room he was in. His humour was something to admire or roll your eyes at,
depending on who you ask. His love for his wife, God, his compassion, kindness for his
family and friends, and his desire to be a good husband, father, and provider to his family
was something that exceeded expectations. He never knew the word "quit" as he always
persevered in all that he did. He will always be remembered for the strong Husband and
Father that he was, a real-life angel that was gifted to us by God to cherish in our hearts
forever.

He is preceded in death by his departed wife, Maria Estela Sanchez; and parents, Teofilo
and Juanita Sanchez.

Pete is survived by and leaves a lifetime of stories, cherished memories, and wisdom to his
children, Mary Kimberly Sanchez and Pete Jeffery Sanchez; sister, Maria Marcelina
Sanchez of Harlingen, Texas; his sister and brother-in-laws, Benita Torres (Santiago),
Arnulfo Olvera (Nicolasa), Celia Vera (Juan), Francisco Olvera Jr. (Maria Elena) of
